  1. I would like to obtain a degree from a four year university. What should I be considering?
  • Know the entrance requirements for the university to which you wish to apply.
  • Talk with your high school counselor to see if your course of study or graduation plan reflects those requirements. If you find out you are not in alignment with university requirements, is it possible to make a change in plans to get in alignment? If yes, determine steps that are needed to be taken.
  • Do you have any special needs that need to be considered for university attendance? If yes, you will need to contact the office at the university that works with special needs students to find out what accommodations are available.
  • Where will I live?
    • At home
    • In a dormitory
    • In an apartment
  • What every day survival skills will I need to have prior to going to the university?
    • Clothes upkeep – Laundry
    • Cooking
    • House/room cleaning
    • Finding buildings – Reading a map or diagram
    • Transportation

  • Research possible careers.
  • Research possible technical schools depending on your area of interest.
  • Know the entrance requirements.
  • Talk with the high school counselor to ensure the courses you are taking will meet those requirements, if not, see about making necessary changes.
  • Consider any special needs you may have to be successful in your chosen field.
  • What living arrangements will have to be in place?
